Cherry Ripes and Mint Chocolate Mushrooms
It’s no secret that I love chocolate! Recipes that feature chocolate always seem to catch my eye and whether it’s cookies or cake, gooey puddings or a tart, it will probably make my tastebuds smile. I’m even just happy to snap off a square or two, straight out of the foil. What a pleasant surprise it was then to be offered a sample of a new range of chocolates while doing the supermarket shopping at the weekend. They were little mushroom shaped morsels with a chocolate biscuit stem and a minty green chocolate cap.
Too bad the sample offering was just a single piece and not a sample packet! Excited by the new find I announced ‘When we run out of treats at home, this is what I will buy next’. ‘More like if we run out of treats at home!’ my husband exclaimed. You see we seem to have an endless supply of chocolate at our place. I don’t buy a lot of it, unless a recipe requires it of course. But instead it just appears, usually by way of gifts from family or friends and often all the way from Australia. Recently, a bag of Cherry Ripes was bestowed upon us. A couple of our friends here had made a quick trip back to Melbourne and generously returned with a bag of chocolaty-cherry-coconut goodness!. I just can’t help myself knowing that they are sitting there waiting to be enjoyed so where once there were 12 there are now just one or two. The only upside of the almost empty packet is that it brings me one step closer to restocking with mint chocolate mushrooms!
